My first spring time in eight years... Love the wild flowers and streams, and enjoying helping my Mom in her garden. (Hard work, but she loves her garden.) My Mom has many herbs and spices along with four hens (and one rooster) that provide her with fresh eggs daily. How special to be able to see dear friends and spending precious time with family.
I left Thailand at the end of the April for a visit to my family and friends in Texas. A few girls came to see me off at the airport. I will surely miss them while I am away. A nine hour lay over in a chilly Korea, I was able to sleep in a reclining sofa at the rest area in Incheon Airport, waiting to board the second plane for the rest of the trip home.
Summer time is Boba time. I am so enjoying Boba time with my family here in the U.S. It makes me think of the last time I made Boba smoothies for the girls at the Girls' Home and for the students at the Bible School... Miss those kids...will see them when I get back.
A long summer break means more time to worship together and go on outings. It also means that the girls can go to visit relatives for a few weeks, if they want. A few girls remain at the children's home. It is the safest place for them and they are well cared for... We enjoyed fun outings. Best part of this April is … being able to worship at the local church to celebrate Jesus is risen!!
What's going on in the summer months at the children's home? We still teach and train the children that God loves us and Jesus is the way to God and the answer to our everyday living... that life is about loving God and caring for one another.
It may be very hot and dry with little rain but we are thankful that the mango trees are loaded with sweet mangos! To cool off during the hot summer: hit a stream haven and lots of swimming with the girls.
By the last week of March, Thailand's soaring heat announces the ushering in of summer. The sky is foggy...Cannot see the mountains and the hills nearby. The sun is a red ball. When we are glad to have the founder of the children's home coming for a visit. The girls have been enjoying their summer break with lots of different activities: playing, swimming, gardening. The older girls helped with sewing dresses for special show to welcome Uncle Bill.
A week or so before school is out... the volunteers and staff of the children's home took a little trip to enjoy nature and have a special time to be encouraged by God's Word.
The girls are all dressed up in their hilltribe outfit for a picture taking day and to say good bye to special friends who are leaving Thailand after many years of service.
At the Bible school, students and teachers get together to prepare meals for each day and some special events. On this day, a team of ladies from Canada came to hold a woman's seminar for the female students. There were prizes for each girl. I took a couple of girls from the children's home to join in to worship and learn about living, loving and praying with God's Word.
