In November, our founders came to the children's home for one of their annual visits. Their time was short but they took every opportunity to be a part of outreaches, meetings and gatherings with the girls and staff. I was so blessed to be a translator and communicator for them and their friend, Ed. Mary Lee is one of the kindest women that I know. Her heart was always warm and sensitive as she shared with the staff and the girls. She took the time to visit with each of our older girls. As I was translating for her, it is hard to keep from crying as I internalized her love and care for each girl. Her husband, Bill provided insights and training for our staff in teaching and caring for our girls with love and logic. Bill had said jokingly that I was 'an American treasure to Thailand'. But really, I'm the one who is so enriched to be a part of the team, to make a difference in the lives of many Thai people.
