While many Thais celebrated their holidays like the Westerners; spending time with their loved ones, many Buddhists in Thailand were parading down the neighborhood streets to raise funds for the temples. Loud music were coming out from speakers of trucks as well as several houses. The parade blocked all traffic in the neighborhood to the main road. Thai people loved festivals and Thai music. The louder the better, it seemed. The music and the festival celebration by the temple went on for days. School was closed for 3 days. The girls got to go to the neighborhood carnival and enjoyed themselves at the games and food stands. We had enough free time to tackled a big project of making hand puppets! We had a lot of fun with them!! Thanks to the Puppet Master and Pastor from Korea that left us with the tools and the material to make beautiful puppets. Hope to put on a show using these puppets, perhaps at the next school term.
